Going the extra mile
Henderson Healthcare’s Mike Picken really did go the extra mile this summer, when the charity half-marathon he and the Ilkley and District Round Table organised smashed through its £35,000 fundraising target. The inaugural Ilkley Half Marathon attracted more than 2,000 participants from all over the world including the USA, Spain and Japan and also our very own colleague Justin Chadwick from The Tingley office, who were keen to take on the new 13.1-mile course though Ilkley town centre and the scenic surroundings of Addingham and Nesfield.
Ilkley and District Round Table fundraises all year round through events such as Ilkley Beer Festival, and all money raised is donated to local good causes and sports clubs. The Ilkley and District Round Table, which is made up of around 20 members and helped throughout the year by over 200 volunteers from across the region, estimate they’ll have raised more than £100,000 in 2019. The planning is now underway for the 2020 events and if you would like to get involved either as a participant or volunteer please contact Mike.
