High-kicking off the summer holidays

Our annual training day with former Leeds Rhinos rugby pro Kevin Sinfield has become a firm fixture on the events calendar since our inaugural event took place in 2015. This year, the unique training workshop was hosted by Leeds Rhino’s training ground during the school summer holidays, and 20 children and their families from across the region were invited to take part.

As well as captaining the Leeds Rhinos, Kevin Sinfield, MBE, also played for England – winning 26 caps for the national team and 14 caps for Great Britain. Revered to be one of the most successful players in Super League history, he retired from professional sport in 2015 and joined the Rugby Football League as rugby director.

Kicking off an energetic morning at the 2019 Kevin Sinfield Training Day, the children were given the opportunity to experience what it’s like to train as a professional rugby player by taking part in a special fitness session focusing on core skills such as tackling, high kicking and passing. They were then given the chance to interview Kevin on his long and successful rugby career in a Q&A session.

‘A great big thanks for today. All our three children loved it, they are still on cloud nine – well done to everyone involved and a massive thanks to Henderson Insurance Brokers Ltd, an Aon company for the invitation it’s our 4th year of attending this fab day.

Rugby league wins again.’ – Simon Hudson
