Leeds Rhinos player trains budding young sports stars

HIBL organise several events throughout the year for added value for our clients and also prospects. In early April more than 30 children from across the region took part in our annual training session with popular Leeds-based rugby player, and ambassador of the company, Kevin Sinfield.

Former Leeds Rhinos Captain, current Yorkshire Carnegie player, Kevin Sinfield, hosts the unique training workshop at Headingley Stadium. Attendees where a mixed group of both male and female and aged between 5 and 18.

The youngsters were given a real taste of what it’s like to train as a professional rugby player with some of Kevin’s team-mates from Yorkshire Carnegie. Kevin who has been working with us in an ambassador role for the past two years, took the children aside for smaller workshops, which focused on core skills including tackling, passing and high kick catching.

After a hard morning on the pitch, and a hearty lunch, the group was then given a taste of life as a sports journalist as they turned the spotlight on Kevin to quiz him on his long and successful rugby career.

Speaking of the day, Kevin said: “It’s been great fun to train with the kids today – I hope I’ve seen many young rugby stars in the making! I’m privileged to work alongside independent local companies such as the Henderson Insurance Group, and I’m proud that my ambassador role means I also get to work directly with some of the region’s talented youngsters. After that Q&A session though, I know some of them are tougher than they look…sports stars of the future may have some tenacious journalists to deal with!”

Paul Judge, Managing Director of Henderson Insurance Brokers Leeds said: “We’ve had excellent feedback from the day and hope that this will set the standard for future unique opportunities that we can provide for our clients and their families.”

We will be holding our next event in the summer holidays, one in Leeds & one in the Grimsby area, dates TBC. To register your interest please email sam.pryor@hibl.co.uk.
