Henderson Sports Acheiver of the Year 2009
This is the third year Henderson has held this prestigious lunch at the LS1 Club in the centre of Leeds, previous winners of this award are:-
2007 - World Superbike Champion James Toseland
2008 - Leeds Rhinos captain Kevin Sinfield
2009 saw the first lady winner, Nicola Minichiello (with brake woman Gillian Cooke, who only went into the sport last season). Nicola won the World Championship title in Lake Placid, New York State, becoming the first woman team for Great Britain to secure gold since 1965, winning the Women's Bobsleigh World Championships.
The event commenced at 12-noon for pre drinks with our guests which included, insurers, prospects, clients and staff sitting down for lunch at 1pm, a presentation of the trophy and question and answer session followed, which was inspiring to say the least. Nicola heads off in 4 weeks time to start the session over again and hopefully hold on to the winning title.
To close the event we had a lady called Christina Franco to run through her journey across the North Pole single-handed, revealing all her tales on the highs and lows and has now possibly set new goals for all those ladies who attended.
